Why a Lizard Skins grip?

The grip that comes on a new bat is usually the cheapest part of it — a thin synthetic wrap picked for cost, not feel. It gets slick when your hands sweat, packs down flat in a few weeks, and does nothing about the sting on a mishit. Swapping it for a Lizard Skins DSP Ultra is the biggest upgrade you can make to a bat for under $25, and it’s why you’ll see them on bats from Little League through the big leagues.

It stays tacky, wet or dry

DSP stands for Durable Soft Polymer. It has a slightly tacky surface, an oval pattern and multi-directional ridges that hold your hands in place through the swing whether it’s a humid July doubleheader or a wet April morning. Because the bat isn’t sliding, hitters stop death-gripping the handle — looser hands, quicker bat.

It takes the sting out

The polymer absorbs vibration on off-barrel contact instead of sending it into your hands. The thicker the grip, the more it dampens: 1.8 mm is the most cushion, 1.1 mm is the all-around favorite and our best seller, and 0.5 mm is the pro choice for wood bats when you want to feel everything.

It lasts

The reformulated DSP holds its texture season after season, and the premium adhesive keeps it locked to the handle instead of creeping or unraveling like a worn stock wrap. Every roll is 990 mm / 39 in with pre-cut ends and a finishing strip, and it fits wood, composite or aluminum.

For USA Baseball play the 2027 Hype Fire runs Easton's patented 3D Ropecoil construction: a three-dimensional composite rope wrapped 360 degrees around the barrel's center at the sweet spot, with the surrounding sections thickness-tuned toward the taper and end cap. The practical effect is a high-performance zone that runs the length of the barrel instead of living in a three-inch window — meaningful in leagues where the standard squeezes bat performance. ConneXion Max takes care of vibration, and the Power Boost soft knob gives the bottom hand leverage on full swings. The -5 is for the big kid batting third who treats a -10 like a fungo. Available in 30"/25oz, 31"/26oz, 32"/27oz. It carries the USA Baseball stamp required in Little League, Cal Ripken, Babe Ruth, PONY and AABC play.
