Torpedo Bats

(13 products)

Torpedo bats move the widest part of the barrel down toward the label, closer to where most hitters actually make contact, and taper the end. The idea came out of MLB in 2025 and every wood bat maker now has a version. We carry the Victus Torpedo TOP, AV and ALT13 Pro Reserve, Marucci Torpedo AP5, CB15 and Lindy12 plus the Pro Cut Torpedo, Rawlings Pro Preferred CR29T and JT39B (both birch, on the JT39B torpedo turn) and Big Stick Elite I13T, a Victus V-Cut Torpedo, the ALT JR youth torpedo, and Marucci's RCKLESS Gen 2 Torpedo, the first BBCOR alloy built on the shape.

All the wood torpedoes are maple except the two Rawlings birch models. Lengths run 29" to 34" and prices from about $100 to $180 for wood; the RCKLESS BBCOR is $350.

Torpedo Bats

Who a torpedo bat is for

A torpedo bat helps a hitter who tends to make contact toward the label rather than the end of the bat. Moving mass to that spot puts the sweet spot where the ball already is, and the tapered end lets the bat swing lighter for its weight. It does nothing for a hitter who lives on the end of the barrel, so look at where the ball marks are on your current bat before you switch.

Is it legal? Yes. Torpedo wood bats meet the same barrel-diameter rules as any wood bat and are legal in pro ball, college, high school and youth leagues. The Marucci RCKLESS Torpedo carries a BBCOR .50 stamp.

Which one? The Victus TOP and Marucci AP5 Torpedo are the most balanced; the CB15 and Rawlings I13T carry more end weight; the ALT JR is the youth option at 29" and 30".
