Catcher's gear sets built for fastpitch softball, helmet, chest protector and leg guards together. The Easton Jen Schro line, designed with the UCLA catcher turned catching coach, comes in The Very Best (the top set) and The Fundamental; All Star makes the Fastpitch Series in adult and intermediate sizes and a League Series set for ages 7 to 9.

Fastpitch chest protectors are cut for a woman's frame and the leg guards are sized for the softball squat. Every set meets NOCSAE standards. Prices run about $100 to $380. Pair it with a mitt from fastpitch catcher's mitts.

Fastpitch Softball Catcher's Gear

Sizing: measure from the base of the neck to the belly button for the chest protector: about 13" for ages 7 to 9, 13.5" to 14.5" for intermediate, 14.5" to 16" for adult. Leg guards should cover from the top of the kneecap to the top of the shoe. All Star's sizing (13.5", 14.5") refers to the chest protector length.

Which set: the Jen Schro Very Best is the choice for a catcher playing travel ball or high school; The Fundamental and the All Star Fastpitch Series are solid for rec and younger players; the League Series is for a first-year 7 to 9 year old.
