Fastpitch First Base Gloves

(14 products)

First base mitts built for fastpitch: 12.5" to 13", with the deep, padded pocket that holds a 12" ball on a short-hop throw. Rawlings Liberty Advanced, Heart of the Hide, R9 and Shut Out; Marucci Cypress, Ascension, Oxbow, Palmetto and Magnolia; Mizuno MVP Prime and Pro Select; Easton Professional Collection.

13" is the standard fastpitch first base size; 12.5" for younger players. Prices run from about $60 to $330, and every mitt ships free. Shop all fastpitch gloves.

Why a mitt: a first base mitt has no separate fingers, a longer profile and a deep, padded pocket, so a throw in the dirt sticks instead of popping out. It is legal only at first base and behind the plate.

Which one: Liberty Advanced and Cypress are the pro-grade choices and need a week or two of catch to break in. Shut Out, MVP Prime, Ascension and Oxbow come softer and are ready to play in a few days.
