Description
The 151Y is the Big Stick Elite youth bat for players learning to hit with wood. It's a composite: a maple shell over a bamboo core, which gives the look and sound of maple. Because it isn't a single billet, Rawlings backs it with a 120-day warranty. Solid wood bats get none.
The 151Y turn has a 2.5" barrel on a .94" handle with a cupped end, and it's balanced; Rawlings says that weighting promotes solid swing mechanics. Sizes run 29" to 32" in red. Check your league's rules on composite wood bats before game use. For tee, cage and wood-bat practice, it is built for exactly this job.

FAQ
Does a wood bat have a warranty?
No — wood bats carry no breakage warranty from any manufacturer, including this one. Hitting with the label up or down (grain facing the pitcher) and avoiding cage balls in cold weather is the best protection.
Maple, ash or birch?
Maple is the hardest and densest — the most pop and the most popular, but it can shatter on a bad mishit. Ash is lighter with more flex and the traditional feel; it flakes rather than snaps. Birch sits between the two: nearly as hard as maple with some of ash's flex, and it gets harder as you hit with it.
What size should I get?
29" or 30" for most 9–11-year-olds, 31"–32" for 12 and up. Wood feels heavier than a youth metal bat of the same length, so match the metal length or go an inch shorter.
