Description
The R9 is Rawlings' workhorse line: quality leather shells engineered to arrive eighty percent broken in, so a player can take it from box to practice in the same week. At 13" it is shaped to do first-base work: pick throws out of the dirt, stretch, and give your infielders a target. The single-post, double-bar web is first-base tradition — a big, forgiving target that scoops errant throws. Underneath: an all leather shell construction shell, Padded Palm and Finger Linings lining, a conventional back. Cut on a standard|narrow fit. It's the sweet spot between department-store gloves and pro-shop money. Available in right- and left-hand throw.

A few days of catch. The leather is pre-conditioned and most players are gaming it within a week.
Is 13" the right size?
13" is a first base pattern. As a guide: infield 11.25" to 11.75", pitcher and utility 11.75" to 12", outfield 12.5" to 12.75", catcher's mitts 32" to 34", first base 12.5" to 13". Buy the size that fits now, not the one to grow into.
