This 13" cut is built for the outfield: extra length and a deep pocket to run balls down and keep them caught. Underneath: a pull strap back. How much break-in does it need?
A few days of catch. The leather is pre-conditioned and most players are gaming it within a week.
Is 13" the right size?
13" is an outfield pattern. As a guide: infield 11.25" to 11.75", pitcher and utility 11.75" to 12", outfield 12.5" to 12.75", catcher's mitts 32" to 34", first base 12.5" to 13". Fastpitch patterns run a quarter inch bigger than baseball for the 12" ball. Buy the size that fits now, not the one to grow into.
Do you have it in left-hand throw?
This model is stocked in right-hand throw only. Wherever Rawlings makes a left-hand version we list it as a separate Hand option.
