Description
Description
A big-barrel ash bat built to be swung — or signed
Rawlings Adirondack Black Ash Wood Baseball Bat R212AB
Description
The R212AB puts Rawlings' 212 turning model into northern white ash: a large 2.50" barrel on a thin 31/32" handle, the kind of shape that gives you a lot of hitting surface without adding much to the swing weight. Ash is lighter and more flexible than maple, so the barrel has a little give at contact and the bat as a whole feels quicker for its length — which is why ash has always been the easy way into wood for hitters who don't want a heavy, stiff stick.
Rawlings finishes it in a double-lacquered gloss black with silver stamping, a laser-engraved knob and a signature-style end brand. That end brand is not decoration — Rawlings markets the 212AB as a signature model, and the flat black barrel takes an autograph cleanly, so it does double duty as a team-signing bat or a keepsake. As with every wood bat, there is no manufacturer warranty.
This bat is part of the Adirondack line; shop the rest of our Rawlings wood bats, everything on the Rawlings baseball bats page, or compare across brands — see all wood bats. Youth sizes live on the youth wood bats page.
Northern White Ash
Harvested in North America and kiln dried; lighter and more flexible than maple, with a bit of trampoline off the barrel.
212 Turning Model
Large 2.50" barrel on a thin 31/32" handle for a big hitting surface that still swings light.
Gloss Black Finish
Double-lacquered black with silver stamping and a laser-engraved knob.
Signature End Brand
Flat, clean barrel end designed for autographs and team signings.
No Manufacturer Warranty
Standard for all wood bats.
Who This Bat Is Built For
Value-minded hitters who want a big barrel in a light-swinging ash bat, plus anyone who needs a good-looking black bat for autographs or a team keepsake.
Best for:
- Wood-bat league and batting-practice hitters who prefer the lighter, more flexible feel of ash
- Players who want a large barrel without the extra swing weight a maple 271 or 243 carries
- Autograph and presentation use — the black barrel and signature end brand are made for it
Consider a different bat if:
- You want maple's harder barrel face and louder crack — the Adirondack 271 hard maple is the same value line in maple
- You need pro-grade graded wood — browse our full wood bats range

FAQ
Does a wood bat have a warranty?
No — wood bats carry no breakage warranty from any manufacturer, including this one. Hitting with the label up or down (grain facing the pitcher) and avoiding cage balls in cold weather is the best protection.
Maple, ash or birch?
Maple is the hardest and densest — the most pop and the most popular, but it can shatter on a bad mishit. Ash is lighter with more flex and the traditional feel; it flakes rather than snaps. Birch sits between the two: nearly as hard as maple with some of ash's flex, and it gets harder as you hit with it.
What size should I get?
Wood bats are sized by length and run roughly a -2 to -3 drop. Ash swings lighter than maple at the same length, so a 33" 212AB feels closer to a 32" maple bat in the hands; pick the length you already swing in metal.
