The Axe Avenge is Axe Bat's composite and hybrid performance line, and the thing that separates it from every other bat is the Axe handle: an asymmetric, axe-shaped knob that puts the bottom hand in a natural hitting position. The current Avenge Pro 3 is a three-piece build with the ShieldBoost2 barrel, carbon and fiberglass prepreg in a shield-shaped layup, a HyperWhip composite end cap and a shock-suspension connection. Earlier Avenge Pros use Charged Carbon composite or MX8 alloy barrels with the same handle, and some models come with a flared knob for players who want a more traditional feel.

The rack has BBCOR -3 (composite and hybrid), USSSA -10, -8 and -5, and USA Baseball -10 and -8 hybrids, with 2023 and 2024 models plus closeouts and a floor-model BBCOR. Prices run from about $65 for a closeout hybrid BBCOR to $250.

The Avenge Pro 3 (2024) is the current bat: three-piece hybrid or composite, ShieldBoost2 barrel, AP3 technology and Axe's claim of its hottest out-of-the-wrapper performance yet, in USSSA -10 and -8 and USA -10 and -8. The 2023 Avenge Pro runs Charged Carbon composite with a Vibration Canceling System that damps at three points, and Axe calls it its most balanced, fastest-swinging bat. The Avenge Pro Hybrid BBCOR pairs an Armor-enhanced aluminum or MX8 alloy barrel with a Charged Carbon Max handle, Stiff Shock Suspension and the HyperWhip end cap, and it is the closeout value of the group.

Handle options: the standard Axe handle, the flared BBCOR knob (FLR models) and the Youth Power flared handle on some USSSA bats. If you have never swung an Axe, the flared knob is the easier transition.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Axe handle legal? Yes. Every Avenge carries its BBCOR .50, USSSA 1.15 BPF or USA Baseball stamp, and the handle is approved in all of them.

Does a composite Avenge need a break-in? Axe designs the ShieldBoost2 and Charged Carbon barrels to be hot out of the wrapper, but give any composite 100 to 200 swings with a quarter-turn rotation. The hybrid BBCOR models have an alloy barrel and need no break-in.

Which drop? USSSA: -10 for most 8 to 11 year olds, -8 for a stronger 11 to 12 year old, -5 for 13U. USA: -10 for most, -8 for a stronger player. BBCOR is -3.

What is the warranty? One year from Axe on new bats. The floor-model BBCOR is sold as-is and needs a new grip.
