Marucci AP5 Bats

(6 products)

The AP5 is Albert Pujols's pro model and one of the best-known turns in Marucci's wood line. It's a thick, end-loaded barrel on a medium handle with a flared knob: mass behind the ball for carry, with enough handle to keep control. Every AP5 is top-grade maple, bone-rubbed to compress the surface for hardness and a louder crack. The AP5 Torpedo shifts more mass into the sweet spot of a torpedo-shaped barrel; the AP5 Puck uses a puck knob to move the center of gravity for a quicker cut.

On the rack: adult AP5 Pro Models in 31" to 34" in several finishes (natural/black, pink, flame fade/baby blue, honey/light cherry Puck), the Torpedo in 31" to 34", and a Youth AP5 in 28" to 30" with a slightly end-loaded swing for young hitters building strength. Prices run from about $80 to $180.

The rest of the player models are in Marucci Pro Model wood bats. Also see Marucci wood bats, torpedo bats, and youth wood bats.

Marucci AP5 Bats

Who swings an AP5

The AP5 is a power hitter's bat. The end load adds momentum through the zone and the big barrel gives reach, so it rewards a strong hitter who drives the ball. The medium handle and flared knob keep it from feeling unwieldy, but Marucci builds it for experienced hitters; a player brand new to wood who wants a balanced feel is usually happier with a thinner-handle pro model first. The Youth AP5 keeps the large barrel and tapered handle in a lighter, slightly end-loaded package.

Frequently asked questions

Maple or something else? Every AP5 is maple: dense, hard and loud. Marucci bone-rubs the barrel to compress the grain for extra surface hardness.

What is the Torpedo AP5? The same AP5 profile with the barrel reshaped so more mass sits in the sweet spot. It keeps the tapered knob and traditional handle and the slightly end-loaded feel.

Is the AP5 legal for wood-bat leagues? Yes. Pro Model wood bats are made to big-league specs and can be used in any wood-bat league or as a BP bat.

What length should I buy? Most adult hitters swing a 32" or 33". The Youth AP5 runs 28" to 30" for players stepping into real wood for the first time.
