The MVP Prime is Mizuno's long-running value glove. It is made from Bio Soft leather, a smooth, professional-style leather with the oil-and-softness balance dialed in so the glove is close to game-ready out of the box, on Center Pocket Designed patterns that break in naturally under the index finger. The baseball models add a PlusGrip thumb slot and professional-level lacing; the fastpitch models are gender-engineered for a female hand.

The rack covers baseball gloves at 11.5", 11.75", 12" and 12.75", a 12.5" first base mitt and a 34" catcher's mitt, and fastpitch gloves at 11.5", 12" and 12.5", a 13" first base mitt and 34" catcher's mitts. Most come in both right and left-hand throw, in Camel, Purple and other colorways, with 2025 and 2027 models on the shelf. Prices run from about $110 to $165.

Bio Soft leather is why the MVP Prime sells: it needs minimal break-in, so a rec-league or travel-ball player can take it out of the box, play catch for a session or two and start using it in games. It is not as stiff or long-lived as steerhide, but for the price it is the most glove Mizuno makes, and the Center Pocket patterns form a pocket exactly where most players catch the ball.

Pattern guide: 11.5" and 11.75" for infielders, 12" for third base, pitchers and utility, 12.75" for outfield. Fastpitch: 11.5" infield, 12" infield/utility, 12.5" outfield. The first base and catcher's mitts follow the same leather and pocket design.

Frequently asked questions

How much break-in does an MVP Prime need? Very little. A few sessions of catch and it is ready; a little conditioner on the pocket speeds it up.

MVP Prime or Pro Select? MVP Prime is softer, cheaper and quicker to play; Pro Select is US steerhide, firmer and built to last longer. Serious high school players usually step up; everyone else is well served here.

Is there a left-hand throw? Yes on most sizes; filter by hand on each listing.

What is the warranty? One year from Mizuno.
