Rawlings Heart of the Hide First Base Mitt 13" PROTDCTT — 13" first base pattern, Single Post Double Bar, Right-hand throw.
Description
At 13" it is shaped to do first-base work: pick throws out of the dirt, stretch, and give your infielders a target. The single-post, double-bar web is first-base tradition — a big, forgiving target that scoops errant throws. Some gloves are bought; Heart of the Hide gloves tend to be inherited. Rawlings reserves the top five percent of its steerhides for this line, which is why an HOH holds its pocket long after cheaper leather has gone soft. Underneath: Deertanned Cowhide lining, a conventional back. It breaks in slow and honest, and it holds the shape you give it for years. Available right-hand throw only.

How much break-in does it need?
Two to four weeks of catch — this is pro-grade leather that is stiff on purpose and holds its pocket for years. A little glove conditioner on the pocket and laces helps; skip the oven, microwave and shaving cream.
Is 13" the right size?
13" is a first base pattern. As a guide: infield 11.25" to 11.75", pitcher and utility 11.75" to 12", outfield 12.5" to 12.75", catcher's mitts 32" to 34", first base 12.5" to 13". Buy the size that fits now, not the one to grow into.
Do you have it in left-hand throw?
This model is stocked in right-hand throw only. Wherever Rawlings makes a left-hand version we list it as a separate Hand option.
