Rawlings builds the Shut Out for the fastpitch family buying two of everything: real leather shells, softball patterns and pull-strap backs without the boutique price. The closed basket web forms a deep, secure pocket — favored by pitchers hiding grips and players who want the ball to stay caught. This 13" cut is shaped to do first-base work: pick throws out of the dirt, stretch, and give your infielders a target. Underneath: a full grain leather shell, a velcro strap back. Cut on a narrow fit. Serious enough for travel ball, sane enough for rec. Available right-hand throw only.

How much break-in does it need?
A few days of catch. The leather is pre-conditioned and most players are gaming it within a week.
Is 13" the right size?
13" is a first base pattern. As a guide: infield 11.25" to 11.75", pitcher and utility 11.75" to 12", outfield 12.5" to 12.75", catcher's mitts 32" to 34", first base 12.5" to 13". Buy the size that fits now, not the one to grow into.
Do you have it in left-hand throw?
This model is stocked in right-hand throw only. Wherever Rawlings makes a left-hand version we list it as a separate Hand option.
