Select Pro Lite is the kids' corner of the Rawlings pro shop: youth-scaled versions of real gamers styled after players like Kris Bryant, Manny Machado and Brandon Crawford. The shell is a lightweight, soft leather with all-leather lacing, palm and index-finger padding and a cushioned fingerback lining, so it closes the first week without a parent working it in. Every model is cut on a Youth Pro Taper fit, a slightly smaller hand opening than a standard youth glove for more control.

Sizes run 10.5" to 12.25" with Pro I webs on the infield patterns and Pro H webs on the outfield and third base patterns, plus an 11.5" first base mitt and a 32" youth catcher's mitt with a one-piece solid web. Several models come in both right- and left-hand throw; the rest are right-hand only. Prices run from about $51 to $75.

Who the Select Pro Lite is for

This is the glove for the 8 to 12 year old who has outgrown a beginner glove and wants the look of the glove their favorite player wears. It is real leather with real leather laces, which most youth gloves at this price are not, and the padded palm and index finger take the sting out of a coach-pitch line drive. Most youth first base mitts are stiff vinyl that never really close; the Select Pro Lite first base mitt is soft leather that closes within a week.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Youth Pro Taper fit? A hand opening cut slightly smaller than a standard youth glove, so the glove stays on the hand and closes with less effort. It is the fit Rawlings uses across this whole series.

How do I size a Select Pro Lite? 10.5" to 11" for the youngest coach-pitch and kid-pitch infielders, 11.25" to 11.5" for 10 to 12 year old infielders, 12" to 12.25" for outfield and utility.

Does it need break-in? Very little. The soft leather shell is meant to close in the first week of catch.

Is the catcher's mitt full size? No. The 32" pattern is a youth mitt with a one-piece solid web, sized for young catchers up to about 12.
