Fastpitch vs. slowpitch gloves

A fastpitch glove is a baseball glove scaled for the 12" ball: 11.75" to 12.75" fielders, 33" to 34" catcher's mitts, with a wider, deeper pocket. A slowpitch glove is bigger again, 13" to 15", because the ball is slower and the priority is catching it, not getting it out fast. The two are not interchangeable: a slowpitch glove is too deep for infield play, and a fastpitch glove is on the small side for slowpitch outfield.

Sizing

  • Fastpitch infield: 11.75" to 12.25". Pitcher: 12" to 12.5" with a closed web. Outfield: 12.5" to 12.75". Catcher: 33" to 34". First base: 13".
  • Slowpitch: 13" to 13.5" infield, 14" to 15" outfield, 13" first base mitt.
  • Youth fastpitch (8 to 12): 11.5" to 12" with a small hand opening.
