Description
The MM8 is the Pro Label turn used by Manny Machado: a 2 3/8" barrel on a 15/16" handle at about -3. That's a smaller barrel than most pro turns, so there is less mass out front and the swing is quicker and easier to control. It suits hitters who value barrel control over maximum hitting surface.
Pro Label bats are pro-grade maple that Rawlings selects and finishes with the same process as its MLB bats. Each one is factory sealed in Rawlings' Woodsaver packaging so it holds its intended weight in any climate until you open it, and the wood is ink-dot graded for straight grain, which is what makes maple durable. FAQ
Does a wood bat have a warranty?
No — wood bats carry no breakage warranty from any manufacturer, including this one. Hitting with the label up or down (grain facing the pitcher) and avoiding cage balls in cold weather is the best protection.
Maple, ash or birch?
Maple is the hardest and densest — the most pop and the most popular, but it can shatter on a bad mishit. Ash is lighter with more flex and the traditional feel; it flakes rather than snaps. Birch sits between the two: nearly as hard as maple with some of ash's flex, and it gets harder as you hit with it.
What size should I get?
Approximately -3, and only the 32" is left. The smaller 2 3/8" barrel makes it swing lighter than a big-barrel turn at the same length.
