Kip is the leather the pros ask for: lighter and tighter-grained than steer-hide, so a mitt this size does not feel like a shield, and it breaks in faster than a pro steer mitt while holding its shape just as long. Easton pairs it with USA-tanned leather lacing and the Ideal Fit System — a laceless Kip lining, a loopless thumb stall, roomy finger stalls with space for two fingers in the pinkie, and Ax Suede on the back of the wrist. The 34" pattern is the full-size target for a high-school, college or adult catcher, with a deep pocket that closes on a pitch and a one-piece web that keeps it there.

Kip is a younger, finer-grained hide — lighter, softer to break in, and it holds its shape as well as a pro steer-hide. It is what most pro gamers are made of.
Is 34" the right size?
34" is the standard adult and high-school catcher's size — a full target for blocking and framing. Younger catchers usually do better in 32" to 32.5".
