How much break-in does it need?
A few days of catch. The leather is pre-conditioned and most players are gaming it within a week.
Is 9" the right size?
9" is an infield pattern. As a guide: infield 11.25" to 11.75", pitcher and utility 11.75" to 12", outfield 12.5" to 12.75", catcher's mitts 32" to 34", first base 12.5" to 13". Buy the size that fits now, not the one to grow into.
