What makes the CATX2 different
Thermally treated AZR alloy
The CATX2 barrel is AZR alloy run through a three-stage thermal treatment. That changes the metal's microstructure so the barrel responds harder on contact and holds up longer. The multi-variable wall design and ring-free construction let Marucci push the barrel diameter to the limit of the rules, which means more surface area and a bigger sweet spot.
Extended barrel and balanced swing
The BBCOR CATX2 adds a half-inch of barrel length over the CATX without adding swing weight; the lower M.O.I. keeps the bat quick through the zone with better control. Every drop weight gets its own custom-molded handle taper.
Liquid-Gel knob and endcap
Marucci moved the anti-vibration technology to both ends of the bat. The Liquid-Gel knob and endcap absorb the sting from mishits at the handle and the barrel end, and on the Connect the OLS joint dampens the middle too.
S-35 and S-25 composite handles (Connect)
The CATX2 Connect is a hybrid: AZR alloy barrel, composite handle, OLS connection. The BBCOR model uses the stiffer S-35 handle; the USSSA models use the S-25.
MDX composite barrel (Composite)
The CATX2 Composite is 100% composite: ring-free MDX composite barrel on an S-25 handle, with an improved multi-directional layup that plays well out of the wrapper and a slightly end-loaded swing.

Frequently asked questions
What certifications does the CATX2 carry? Depending on the model: BBCOR .50, USSSA 1.15 BPF, or the USA Baseball stamp. Check the title; the stamp is in the name.
Does the CATX2 need a break-in? The alloy and Connect models are game-ready on day one. The CATX2 Composite has a composite barrel and will loosen up over the first hundred or so swings.
Which drop weight is right? A -10 fits most youth travel hitters. Move to -8 when the -10 swings easy, -5 for big 13U hitters, and -3 for high school. USA Bat leagues use the -11.
Connect or one-piece? Same barrel. The one-piece gives a stiffer, more direct feel that many power hitters like. The Connect adds a composite handle that removes vibration and feels smoother on mishits.
What is the warranty? Marucci backs the CATX2 with a one-year manufacturer warranty.
Should I buy a CATX2 or a closeout CATX? The CATX2 is the newer tech: thermal-treated alloy, longer BBCOR barrel, Liquid-Gel at both ends. The closeout CATX is the prior generation at a lower price. Both are legal and both hit; the choice is budget versus the latest barrel.
