Why the CAT 9 still sells

Marucci took the market by storm with the original CAT 5, and the CAT 9 was the model, nearly a decade later, that reset what a one-piece alloy could do. The multi-variable wall design is harder to build than a uniform barrel, but it gives the CAT 9 a larger sweet spot than most aluminum bats. The AV2 knob uses a harmonically tuned dampening system that kills the sting on off-center hits, which is why parents keep coming back to it for batting practice bats.

The CAT 9 Connect pairs that barrel with a composite handle on the OLS connection piece. The OLS uses the stiffest construction material available so you keep the solid feel at contact, while the joint stops vibration before it reaches the hands. The Connect swings end-loaded for a higher M.O.I. and more power through the zone.

Which drop weight fits my player? Marucci built the -10 for most 7 to 11 year olds, the -8 for average-sized 11 to 13 year olds, and the -5 for strong 13U hitters and power bats. BBCOR is -3 for high school and college.

Is the CAT 9 still legal? Yes. The BBCOR models carry the .50 stamp and the USSSA models carry the 1.15 BPF stamp; neither has been decertified.

CAT 9 or CAT 9 Connect? The one-piece CAT 9 is balanced and gives a traditional feel. The Connect is end-loaded with a composite handle, better for a hitter who wants power and less sting.

Why is it so much cheaper than the CATX2? It's closeout. Same warranty, same certification, just a prior generation we're marking down to move.
