Description
Heart of the Hide needs little introduction — Rawlings cuts these shells from the top five percent of steerhides, and the result is the pattern-holding, pocket-keeping leather that has defined pro gloves for decades. This one is the 31 pattern at 11.5" — built for infield speed: a shallower pocket that lets you find the ball instantly and get rid of it faster. The Pro I web gives infielders the fast, shallow-pocket transfer the position demands. Underneath: a steer hide leather shell, Deer-Tanned Cowhide lining, a conventional back. It breaks in slow and honest, and it holds the shape you give it for years. Available right-hand throw only.

How much break-in does it need?
Two to four weeks of catch — this is pro-grade leather that is stiff on purpose and holds its pocket for years. A little glove conditioner on the pocket and laces helps; skip the oven, microwave and shaving cream.
Is 11.5" the right size?
11.5" is an infield pattern. As a guide: infield 11.25" to 11.75", pitcher and utility 11.75" to 12", outfield 12.5" to 12.75", catcher's mitts 32" to 34", first base 12.5" to 13". Buy the size that fits now, not the one to grow into.
Do you have it in left-hand throw?
This model is stocked in right-hand throw only. Wherever Rawlings makes a left-hand version we list it as a separate Hand option.
