Rawlings NXT Series 11.5" — Dark Shadow 204 Infield Glove

Rawlings NXT Series Baseball Glove 11.5" NXT204U-32DS — Rawlings built the NXT for the serious 12-to-15-year-old: real pro patterns, leather that breaks in without a parent's help, and a ContoUR fit sized for hands that have not finished growing. This is the 11.5" 204 pattern with a Split Single Post web in Dark Shadow.

Description

Most glove lines skip the years between a youth glove and a pro glove. The NXT is Rawlings' answer: the same patterns the Heart of the Hide and R9 lines use, cut smaller through the wrist and fingers, in a soft game-ready leather with padded palm and finger linings so a teenager can break it in on their own. It is priced for a glove that will be outgrown in two seasons, and built well enough to be handed down when it is.

Rawlings calls it Dark Shadow: black shell, scarlet NXT and Rawlings logos, gold lacing. It is the sharpest-looking glove in the series.

Soft Game-Ready Leather, ContoUR Fit

The NXT shell is a soft, game-ready leather that shapes in weeks rather than months, backed by padded palm and finger linings that take the sting out of the ball. The ContoUR fit tightens the wrist opening and finger stalls so a smaller hand sits deep in the glove and controls it — no flopping, no over-sized feel. Conventional back with a padded thumb sleeve.

11.5" 204 Pattern — Middle-Infield Depth

The 204 is Rawlings' workhorse 11.5" infield pattern: a slightly deeper pocket than the pure shortstop shapes, so the ball sticks on catch-and-squeeze plays, with a profile short enough to clear on the transfer. Second base, shortstop and a lot of high-school third basemen live in this pattern.

Split Single Post Web

A split single-post web is a lighter, more flexible take on the I web — it closes fast on the ball and clears just as fast on the exchange, which is exactly what a middle infielder wants.

Who This Glove Is Built For

Best for:

  • Middle infielders aged roughly 12 to 15 who have outgrown youth gloves but are not ready for a full pro-size opening
  • Travel-ball and high-school players who want a real Rawlings pattern without Heart of the Hide pricing

Consider a different glove if:

  • You throw left-handed — this model is right-hand throw only
  • You play the outfield — see the 12.5" 302 in the NXT lineup
  • You want pro steer-hide that holds its shape for years — step up to Heart of the Hide
  • You want a lower price — see Rawlings R9

FAQ

Who is the NXT series for?

Players roughly 12 to 15 — big enough for a real pro pattern, but with hands that are still growing. The ContoUR fit is cut smaller through the wrist and fingers than Rawlings' adult lines, so the glove stays controllable. Adults with small hands like them for the same reason.

How long does it take to break in?

Weeks, not months. The NXT leather is soft out of the box; a few sessions of catch plus a mallet on the pocket and it is game-ready. No steaming required.

Is this the right size and pattern for my position?

The 204 is Rawlings' workhorse 11.5" infield pattern: a slightly deeper pocket than the pure shortstop shapes, so the ball sticks on catch-and-squeeze plays, with a profile short enough to clear on the transfer. If you play somewhere else, the NXT collection covers 11.25" through 12.5" fielder's gloves plus a first base mitt and catcher's mitt.
