Rawlings Heart of the Hide Baseball Glove 12.75" PROR3039-6CCBB — steer hide leather, 12.75" outfield pattern, Pro H web, Right- or left-hand throw.
Description
The 303 pattern at 12.75" is extra length and a deep pocket to run balls down and keep them caught. The Pro H web brings the stability outfielders and third basemen trust — strong on the ball, open enough to see through against the sky. Some gloves are bought; Heart of the Hide gloves tend to be inherited. Rawlings reserves the top five percent of its steerhides for this line, which is why an HOH holds its pocket long after cheaper leather has gone soft. This edition wears camel leather with Columbia blue lacing and black binding. Underneath: a steer hide leather shell, Deer-Tanned Cowhide lining, a conventional back. It breaks in slow and honest, and it holds the shape you give it for years. Available in right- and left-hand throw.

How much break-in does it need?
Two to four weeks of catch — this is pro-grade leather that is stiff on purpose and holds its pocket for years. A little glove conditioner on the pocket and laces helps; skip the oven, microwave and shaving cream.
Is 12.75" the right size?
12.75" is an outfield pattern. As a guide: infield 11.25" to 11.75", pitcher and utility 11.75" to 12", outfield 12.5" to 12.75", catcher's mitts 32" to 34", first base 12.5" to 13". Buy the size that fits now, not the one to grow into.
