Marucci Connect bats are two-piece hybrids: an AZR alloy barrel with the multi-variable, ring-free wall design, joined to a composite handle by the OLS (Outer Locking System). The OLS is built from the stiffest material available so the bat still feels solid at contact, while the joint stops sting before it gets to the hands. Right now every Connect Marucci makes is a CAT: the CAT 9 Connect with its end-loaded swing, the CATX Connect with a stiffer handle for faster energy transfer, and the CATX2 Connect with Liquid-Gel dampening in the knob, joint and endcap plus S-35 and S-25 composite handles.

On the rack are BBCOR -3 and USSSA -5, -8 and -10 across all three generations, including the CAT 9 Connect America editions. Prices run from about $90 to $180.

The one-piece alloy versions live in CAT 9, CATX and CATX2; the two-piece composites are in CATX Composite. Everything Marucci is under Marucci baseball bats.

Who a Connect is for

A hybrid is the bat for a hitter who wants alloy pop with no break-in but doesn't want to feel every mishit. Because the barrel is the same alloy as the one-piece CAT, a Connect is game-ready the first day. The composite handle and OLS joint absorb vibration that a one-piece sends straight to the hands, so it's a good choice for a player who has complained of sting or who plays in cold weather.

Swing feel varies by generation. The CAT 9 Connect is end-loaded for a higher M.O.I. and effortless power. The CATX Connect and CATX2 Connect are balanced with a stiffer handle so energy gets to the ball faster.

Frequently asked questions

Connect or one-piece CAT? Same barrel, different feel. One-piece is stiffer and more direct; Connect is smoother on the hands. Neither out-hits the other by rule.

Which generation? The CAT 9 Connect is the closeout value, the CATX Connect is the middle, and the CATX2 Connect is current. All carry BBCOR or USSSA certification and Marucci's one-year warranty.

Which drop weight? -10 for most 7 to 11 year olds, -8 for 11 to 13, -5 for strong 13U hitters, -3 for high school and college.

Is the connection a weak point? No. The OLS uses threaded grooves to lock barrel and handle together; it's an exclusive Marucci design, not a glued sleeve.
