What makes the Icon different
In/Tense carbon composite barrel
The Icon barrel is a seamless, multi-layer carbon composite layup rather than a barrel glued together from sections. That lets Rawlings grow the barrel to the maximum legal diameter for each certification (2 5/8" for USA and BBCOR, 2 3/4" for USSSA) while keeping stiffness even across the sweet spot. That means a large sweet spot and more retained performance on mis-hits, which matters most under the USA standard where peak performance is capped.
Zero Loss technology
The handle meets the barrel through a TPU collar. Zero Loss stiffens that connection so energy from the swing goes into the ball instead of flexing away at the joint, and it cuts vibration on mishits. It is why the Icon feels stiffer at contact than a lot of two-piece composites.
Tuned Balance Performance
The Icon is not a pure balanced bat and not a true end-load. Rawlings tunes the swing weight so it is balanced with a slight end load, which gives you control through the zone with a little extra mass behind the barrel. The 2026 Icon Fest USA variant is lighter-swinging than the standard tuned profile.
RevGrip
Every Icon ships with Rawlings' RevGrip handle wrap, a cushioned, tacky grip that does not need replacing out of the wrapper.
Two-piece construction (one-piece on the Junior Big Barrel)
Full-size Icons are two-piece composite. The Junior Big Barrel -11 is a simplified one-piece composite with the same In/Tense barrel and tuned balance profile, sized 25" to 27" for the youngest tournament hitters.
Which Icon should you buy
- USA – -12 – 2 5/8" – the lightest Icon, for younger league hitters who want the barrel without the weight.
- USA – -10 – 2 5/8" – the standard league drop and the default pick for Little League, Cal Ripken, Babe Ruth, PONY and AABC.
- USA – -8 – 2 5/8" – strong 11U to 12U hitters chasing extra carry.
- USA – -5 – 2 5/8" – the 12U hitter already looking ahead to BBCOR weighting.
- USSSA – -10 – 2 3/4" – the main travel-ball Icon, 27" to 31".
- USSSA – -8 – 2 3/4" – 29" to 32", for hitters who have outgrown a -10.
- USSSA – -5 – 2 3/4" – 30" to 32", the last stop before BBCOR.
- USSSA Junior Big Barrel – -11 – 2 3/4" one-piece – 25" to 27", coach-pitch and early kid-pitch.
- BBCOR – -3 – 2 5/8" – 31" to 34", high school and college.
Frequently asked questions
Which Icon is legal for my league? Check the stamp. USA Icons carry the USA Baseball stamp required in Little League, Cal Ripken, Babe Ruth, PONY and AABC. USSSA Icons carry the 1.15 BPF stamp for travel and tournament ball. The BBCOR Icon is for high school and college. Note that USSSA 14U moved to BBCOR in 2026, so a 14U travel player should be looking at the -3.
Does the Icon need a break-in? Rawlings' own product copy for the 2026 USA models says zero break-in, and the composite is meant to be game-ready out of the wrapper. If you want to be careful, a hundred or so tee swings rotating the barrel will not hurt.
How do I pick a drop and length? Lighter drops (-12, -10, -11) for younger and smaller hitters who need bat speed; -8 and -5 for older or stronger kids; -3 only for BBCOR. Length follows height and strength more than age. If you are between two, take the shorter, lighter one.
What is the warranty? Rawlings composite bats are covered by the manufacturer's warranty, and claims go through Rawlings directly. Keep your CheapBats order confirmation as proof of purchase.
Should I buy the 2025 or 2026 Icon instead of the 2027? The In/Tense barrel, Zero Loss collar and tuned balance carry across all three years. The older years are here at a lower price when we have them, so if your size is in stock the prior year is the better value. See closeout USSSA bats and closeout USA bats.
What are Icon Fest and The Chosen ONE? Limited colorways on the same bat. Icon Fest is the louder graphics package in USA and USSSA; The Chosen ONE is the black and gold USA version. Same barrel and construction, different paint.
