The BB-OL sits in Diamond's economy line, but it is built more like a game ball than the price suggests: a cushioned cork center, a yarn winding and a real leather cover. That is the same center Diamond uses on its tournament-grade DOL-A balls; the saving comes from a plainer grade of leather.
It is the ball Diamond packs into its 24-ball bucket combo, and the reason is simple: it is the cheapest Diamond baseball that still has a wound core, so it keeps its shape through a season of practice better than a solid-cork economy ball like the D-OB. Use it for team practice, cage work off a coach's arm, and youth leagues that do not require a league-stamped ball.

How is the BB-OL different from the D-OB?
The BB-OL has a cushioned cork center with a yarn winding; the D-OB is a solid cork composition core with no winding. The BB-OL holds its shape longer.
Is the BB-OL a game ball?
It is an Official League ball without any league or NOCSAE stamp, so it is fine for practice and for rec leagues that do not require a stamped ball.
Can I use it in a pitching machine?
Diamond does not rate its economy balls for machine use. The DMBP is the ball for that.
Why no single dozen?
Baseballs ship free, and a single dozen does not cover the freight. Two dozen is the minimum; a full case is the best price per ball.
